29th and 30th March
This workshop will focus on training participants in how to work combining systemic and cognitive behavioural therapy approaches in clinical work.
Each of these approaches is highly effective in bringing forth change in clients’ lives. Being able to combine them, and when more suitable, choose to use one or the other within a case, highly increases the chances of positive therapeutic outcomes. Working within a systemic-social constructionist approach, participants will be introduced to the main CBT principles and techniques. Each point will be illustrated with detailed case examples.
The workshop will cover the following areas:
- How to create a context in which we can use the two approaches in clinical work
- CBT main tenets and techniques
- Using CBT to address particular identified problems such as phobias
The workshop will also consider new ideas for hypothesising, develop useful tasks for clients to undertake between sessions and introduce different punctuations on relational problems.
